The Hyperscore Project - 2006
The Skaneateles Festival Hyperscore Project was a unique community outreach project that brought together traditional art and cutting-edge technology in a way that all could enjoy. Compose Yourself! (A Free Community Concert) The culmination of this inclusive project was the Opening Night Concert of the Skaneateles Festival's 2006 Season. Many of the pieces composed by the students and adults were performed by the Daedalus Quartet at this public concert. The free community event took place Wednesday, August 9th, 8:00 pm,at the First Presbyterian Church in Skaneateles, and also included music by some of history's greatest composers, Mozart and Beethoven. Our community composers, young and old, will hear their music performed alongside the works of the masters!
What the kids said... "I liked seeing the different things people can make using the same tools." "It was a fun and challenging experience!" "I wish we could do it again." What did you learn about music by working with Hyperscore? "I should write music with compassion." "To make it sound sweet and simple with a lot of pizzazz!" "I liked being able to focus more on getting a sound onto the computer without having to worry about technical details like key signature." "I found how much effort it takes for composers to make a piece just how they want." What did you think of the Daedalus Quartet? "They were great at helping us with the music we had." "The Daedalus Quartet was SOOOOOOO beautiful!!! They were AMAZING!!! They really inspired me." "It was awesome to listen to them up close. They were very good!" "Listening to a fine quartet is extremely inspiring and enjoyable." Funds for this residency were provided by Chamber Music America with support from the JP Morgan Chase Residency Re-Grant Program, a program of the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, and the Chamber Music America Residency Endowment Fund. The Skaneateles Festival is a member of Chamber Music America. The Hyperscore Project is also sponsored by The Allyn Foundation. |
